H-500 XP Fuel Cell Stack
500W XP PEM Fuel Cell Stack Overview
Among the air-cooled fuel cell stacks that we offer, this is one of two fuel cell stacks that holds a special place among our product portfolio. This fuel cell stack is geared towards mobility applications, such as helping students in colleges and universities to learn how to design and build fuel cell electric vehicles that are capable of propelling one person up to relatively high speeds. As you will notice below this fuel cell stack operates with a higher efficiency that the fuel cell stacks in the H Series while still offering 500 watts of power. This fuel cell stack is often found in vehicles that compete in Shell’s Eco-Marathon, and it provides a natural pathway progression for students who participated in Horizon Educational’s H2GP program in high school to continue their fuel cell studies. However, while this fuel cell stack is designed for eco-friendly applications, like building FCEVs, it can also be integrated into other applications.
This fuel cell stack comes with the following:
- Connection Tubing
- Electronic Valves
- Electronic Control Box
- Fuel Cell On/Off Switch
- SCU On/Off Switch

Fuel Cell and Hydrogen
Safety Requirements
Do not attach or detach power cables when the fuel cell stack is turned on. Warranty is void if the fuel cell stack is dismantled or otherwise modified. Hydrogen is a colorless, odorless, and flammable substance. Always operate and store the fuel cell stacks and hydrogen storage canisters in an area with ample ventilation. Fuel cell systems should always be equipped with a highly accurate hydrogen sensor to detect any hydrogen that has escaped within the system or from the hydrogen storage canister. Please refer to the H-500 XP User Manual to see the full list of the safety requirements for the product.
